Namibia Safaris
Namibia is a bucket list safari destination, dominated by the Kalahari Desert, Vast Sand Dunes, Wonderful Wildlife and a Petrified Forest.
Like many countries in Africa, Namibia is a vast country, almost 800 miles from top to toe and covering an area the size of France and Germany combined, but with just under 2½ million inhabitants with many living in Windhoek and the Swakopmund area. Due to its sheer size itineraries are best focused on a region of the country leaving plenty more to see and do on another visit.
Geographically Namibia is dominated by the Kalahari Desert, which is the oldest desert in the world and covers most of the southern half of the country with a vast dune region, some as high as 1,000 feet, stretching for hundreds of miles. To the north the topography becomes dominated by remote rugged weathered mountains, which bear comparison with the canyon lands of Utah.
The climate is heavily influenced by the cold currents of the Atlantic Ocean as they interact with the warm desert but inland temperatures can reach 40C in the summer, so choose which times of you visit – we can give you advice on this.
It should be on everyone’s destination bucket list.
